GPLogview tool

Vista has a whole new event log with a zillion GP events in it. Of course, details in some upcoming newsletter. For those trailblaizers though, there is a tool to help you parse those Vista logs. Interesting little document

I was trolling around for something else, but stumbled across this: http://tinyurl.com/sdcnc It has about 10 pages on how to use GP to make Vista revert it’s look and feel to XP. I would snag a copy, because I see no other links to it anywhere, and who knows if it’ll go away anytime soon.

What?? No MSI for ForeFront Security from Microsoft?

“Microsoft has released the public beta of Forefront Client Security – their new malware product. Currently deployment of the client via GPSI is not supported (there’s not a single MSI file). This is due to the complexity of the install process. Which means creating your own might be unlikely as well. Deployment via script is the only remote deployment option. Security Templates

Do you care about Windows security templates? XP ships with a gaggle of them in the box. The idea is that you sort of “round up” a bunch of security-related GPO settings into an “.inf” file. Then you can, ya know, email them to friends or co-workers or other admins to secure their machines. But, that’s the question. Do you care? Has anyone cared?
