“ [I] used the tools he demonstrated and those tools saved me a lot of time and money. ”

“ After hearing Jeremy speak today about Roaming Profiles and Folder Redirection, I was immediately able to see how I can save my company time and resources with PC deployments and redeployments. After working with Jeremy’s labs for the GPPEs [from the Group Policy 2.0 class] I can see many realworld applications that I can put into production immediately. ”

“ I’m a [Federal] employee who took your course through [our IT offices] a couple of years ago (or less). Just wanted to say thanks so much for the excellent training because I finally had a chance to use it in depth for the first time (had done a few MINOR GPO tasks previously) and was able (with SOME guidance from others) to do what I needed to do based on what I learned in your class. FYI, we had to apply (with some editing) NIST policies to our PCs and I’m really grateful for having had the training with you because it came in VERY handy during this crunch to comply with OMB mandates to do this by Feb 4, 2008. Keep up the good work and I’ll encourage my staff to consider your training the next time you are in our neighborhood. ”

Group Policy Training - Live and Online

Why do I need
Group Policy Training?

Most companies spend a fortune in planning and migrating to Active Directory. Then once they have Active Directory in place, the next logical question is "What do we do with it?"

Group Policy is what you do with Active Directory - you control and manage your clients and servers with the nearly limitless power it offers.

We have several classes to choose from including public, private, and sponsored classes.

What is meant by "public, private and sponsored" classes?

Why this Group Policy course?

Microsoft doesn't have its own course dedicated to Group Policy. Microsoft's own "Official Curriculum" on Active Directory has very little emphasis on Group Policy is arguably the most important part of day-to-day Active Directory administration.

Very few other training courses tap deep into the well of Group Policy to really ensure that students can confidently implement this powerful technology. Not only will the concepts be taught in an understandable way, but they are reinforced with demonstrations as well as hands-on labs to get the skills out of the lab and into practice!

This material is battle-tested in companies around the world. It’s gathered from hundreds of Active Directory and Group Policy administrators managing thousands of servers. And the latest information from Microsoft is provided whenever a new development is on the way.

How is this course different than our other courses?

This course has "Intensive" in the name, so come prepared to work. We don't take many breaks, and lunch is provided so you ca lunch over labs. By the time this course is done, you're going to KNOW Group Policy. For a less-intensive experience, check out our three-day Less Intensive Group Policy training and workshop. That course has much of the same material (plus a little extra on Active Directory essentials at the beginning.)

Once you've taken this course (or the three-day Less Intensive course) you would be a good candidate for our other courses: One-Day Advanced Course and Group Policy Security Course.

Additionally, since this is the "Fundamentals" version of the course, you might want to also add-on our "Vista Group Policy Catch-up" class if you're starting to also roll out Vista.

TIMING

The Group Policy Intensive Workshop is really a three day course, packed into two days.
Here is the breakdown of the class:

  • 33% Lecture / knowledge transfer
  • 33% Demonstration of concepts
  • 33% Hands-on lab time applying concepts into practice
  • 1% Time to catch your breath!

This training approach helps students understand and reinforce the concepts at multiple levels of learning before putting their knowledge into practice in production.

WHAT STUDENTS NEED TO BRING

While not strictly required, this class is enhanced if the attendees each have their own machine bring their own laptop to class. This is so we can perform real-world workshop experiments to solidify the concepts learned during the lecture and demonstrations. Each attendee should come to class with a laptop with at least the following specifications:

  • Windows XP or Windows 2000 pre-loaded
  • User has local administrative logon rights to the laptop
  • Pentium III at 500 Mhz (Pentium 4 at 1Ghz or Pentium Centrino at 1Ghz Recommended)
  • 512 MB of RAM (1GB STRONGLY RECOMENDED)
