Do you care about Windows security templates? XP ships with a gaggle of them in the box. The idea is that you sort of “round up” a bunch of security-related GPO settings into an “.inf” file. Then you can, ya know, email them to friends or co-workers or other admins to secure their machines.
But, that’s the question. Do you care?
Has anyone cared?
I don’t have much evidence that anyone really uses security templates all that much. Wondering if you think I should keep or cut that material from the next edition of the book.
And, it should be noted that Vista doesn’t ship with ANY .inf security templates; so, maybe Microsoft is down-playing their usefulness.
Not sure.. and wanted your opinion. Email me and let me know what you think. Note I may not be able to respond to every email directly.
Thanks in advance.
