Many of the users in our network bring home their laptops. Will GPOs still be enforced when they arent within our LAN?
GPO settings are cached along with the cached logon credentials. The only limitation is that the computers wont receive GPO updates if they are disconnected from the LAN. Note, however, if youre using Microsofts DirectAccess (which extends the LAN to the Internet) then, yes, they do get new and updated GPOs.

But we encourage you to join us at LinkedIn in the “GPO Stuff” group.
Jeremy is regular there, and there is a reasonable system to prevent junk posts.
In all, we think it’s the right place to go for Group Policy-specific questions.
It’s a private group, but just JOIN it, and the owner should approve your request.
See you there !
