controlling user experience

Hello, I need some guidance and best practice for using group policies
to control the user experience in a lab environment in which the user
that logs on does not reside in the same OU. In other words these are
student accounts which will log onto lab machines in which I have to
control the desktop environment. The lab machines I have created but
the student account reside outside of my management scope. I know I
can use loop back processing but is there anything else.
