I was curious if anyone has come across an issue when trying to copy a GPO and you receive a 'naming violation' error? This is with a plain copy or an import into a new, blank GPO. We run a large central store based environment and have this issue when I copy using a Win2k8 GPMC. The copy is clean and works fine if I use a GPMC on a Win2k3 GPMC.

Any suggestions or behavior explination on this? And no, I don't have an existing GPO (that I can see) with the same name.

Can you reproduce tis every time?
    Or does it happen sporadical?
Is your domain W2k8 based or W2k3?

In the meantime I found this:

    Does that fix your issue?

Thanks, that fixed it. I had the CNF object and once deleted it copies fine on 2k8's GPMC. Thought it was kind of wierd it worked ok on 2k3 GPMC. Oh well.
