Hello! I recently started a project where we'll be moving our Citrix / Terminal Server environment to 64 bit and have run into a problem with my GPO and IE's proxy settings. We do use a proxy server for internet access and I just can't get the setting to apply. I'm using the User Config > Polices > Windows Settings > IE Maint > Connection / Proxy GPO settings to do this and it's worked on the 32bit servers. I've run the wizard and can see that the policy is being applied however if I'm logged on as a user I can still surf the web outside of the restrictions in place on the proxy (i.e. can still get to playboy.com etc). I ran across the KB article with MS however the scenario is wrong for us:
You cannot access the Internet through a proxy server when you use a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer on a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows
"Consider the following scenario. You are running a 32-bit version of Microsoft Internet Explorer on a computer that is running a 64-bit version of a Microsoft Windows operating system. You enable the Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user) Group Policy settings. In this scenario, you cannot access the Internet through a proxy server."
We aren't using per-machine settings but per-user, perhaps it still applies because of the differences in the registry? Any thoughts?
