I can't seem to get Office 2003 to deploy to my computers. I've copied the install files to an accessible file share and built an MST for my preferred options. I used GP to publish Office to users, and it worked fine, except that it only installs for that user. I instead assigned it to the computers, but it doesn't install, and I get the following errors every time I boot:
[code:1]The assignment of application Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 from policy Office succeeded.
[code:1]The install of application Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 from policy Office failed. The error was The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it. .
[code:1]The removal of the assignment of application Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 from policy Office succeeded.
I found a KB article discussing the permissions on the distribution share, and I added Everyone and Authenticated Users to the permissions, but I still get the same errors, and no install. Does anyone here know what I might have missed?

I'm wondering about a couple of things...

Did you copy the install to the share, or run an administrative install?

    and

Did you use a UNC in the Policy to point to the install files?

I copied it. I saw references to the admin install, and to deployment with GP, but never both together, so I go the impression that they were two different deployment methods.

I used the format \\server.domain.com\share\folder\pro11.msi (and the same for the .mst).

Your path should be ok, as long as you can actually type it into your explorer and get to the right folder.

I'm wondering about the copy though. Honestly, I'm not sure if it should work or not, because I've only use the administrative install.

Here's a link to the info on creating and administrative installation point.

In a nutshell, you run this install to your network share, then deploy from there.
