I am trying to get started with deploying Office 2000 via GP. I created an assigned application, set permissions, etc.

When I log on to a Windows 2000 computer as the user, the Office components do show up on the start menu. So far so good. When I click on an icon on the Start menu, it starts the Windows installer process, but it fails with the following warning.

Microsoft Office 2000 has been advertised on you computer by the system administrator. To install Microsoft Office, run setup with the /q or /qb command-line option. Contact your system administrator for more information.

Also, I am doing this work in a test OU in my Windows 2003 AD. What would happen if I assign this application to an OU where users may already have Office installed? Would this foul existing Office deployments? Ideally, I only really wish the installer to run on new computer deployments.

    In the DEPLOYMENT OPTIONS page..

Change the USER INTERFACE options from
    MAXIMUM to BASIC.

Let me know if that does it.
