I was trying to use the Software Installtion to give all my users the Microsoft converter tool for Office 2007. It only comes as an executable so I looked for ways to make the MSI package as stated on microsofts web site. I found this tech net article http://www.microsoft.com/technet/desktopdeployment/bdd/enterprise/SupApp_4.mspx. It gives a few different software options for repackaging.

AdminStudio worked for me so I used it to deploy the repackaged .msi converter tool. I setup the software install to load during first logon on the user side of the GPO and the deploy state was 'assigned'. It worked fine, but my problem was that about 18 hours after I enabled the GPO every DC I had on the domain had its security event logs fill up and tripping a crash on audit failure. It would take about 5 minute for the 41 MB we set the log size to fill up. All my servers are Win2000, we just recently replaced all our workstations with XP professional.
This is the only software install GPO on our site.

Has anyone heard of a problem like this, microsofts solutions did not address my source problem only how to stop the auditing from happening.
