Default GP Mgmt Editor shows black down arrow on Setting object

    Hello all,
Working on installing and configuring System Center Config Mgr clients using GP. There are two Settings objects in the SCCM adm: "Configure Configuration Manager 2007 Site Assignment" and Configure Configuration Manager 2007 Client Deployment Settings."

The first (Site Assignment) shows a down, black arrow on the settings object. I've not seen this icon before and I'm not having much luck searching the web on this issue.

If anyone has any ideas as to what that down arrow is indicating (and how to resolve if it's an issue) it would be greatly appreciated.

So it's definitely an issue. Settings from that settings object are not being applied.

Any ideas anyone? Anyone, Anyone, Bueller, Bueller?

I believe the icon you are referring to demonstrates that the setting that policy affects is not located in one of the Policy keys. In other words, it's a preference (not to be confused with a group policy preference).

When I make my own custom ADMX templates for modify the registry outside the Policy keys that is the icon that appears in the editor. They behave differently than policies. I'm pretty sure the application can overwrite them. So the fact that it is not working could have something to do with the application attempting to make a setting that is conflicting with this preference.

Never having worked with SCCM before, I have no better information to give you.

    Default Bingo.

That's precisely right. In short, that policy setting is guaranteed to "Tattoo" the registry when the policy is deleted or the computer falls out of scope.

Tip: You can use PolicyPak to ensure that doesn't occur.
