hi all, hi jeremy,

Hi Guys,
I'm working on and troubleshooting the GPO topic for several years now and scripted lots of stuff in that area ... but here's a challenge:
How do I find out, which ADM templates are used by a GPO, more generally if I have several hundreds of GPOs and some 20 to 30 custom ADN templates (yes W2K3, WXP ...) is there any way to find out which GPO is using a specific (custom) adm template? ... preferably using a script :-)
means I want to generate a list of GPOs (GUID and friendly name) and the adm files used by them ...
BTW.: the ..\sysvol\Policies\{GPO-GUID}\Adm\admfiles.ini doesnt show me this information :-(
the situation in my customer's environment is somewhat "complex" and NOT trivial and NOT standard, means they do NOT have all adm's used for a specific GPO in its corresponding GPO adm folder any more (e.g ..\sysvol\Policies\{GPO-GUID}\Adm\system.adm) BUT have moved ALL adm's to a CustomADM folder AND have configured their GPO Editing machines (these are a few DCs!) in that way, that GPMC / gpedit.msc uses only these templates, which are copied to their LOCAL %windir%\inf folder for that purpose; tricky but works!
In addition they have rolled out a GPO setting which prevents adm templates to be copied to a NEW GPO or to be copied while editing an existing GPO, if done from any other machine in that domain (somewhat complex, but necessary for this trick, uh?!?)
This "emulates" the Vista/W7/W2K8 admx/adml style "CentralStore" and prevents the so called "sysvol bloat" caused by several hundred copies of adm template files .... cool ey !?!
So I am NOT able to browse through all policies folders in the sysvol folder at a DC, look for the adm files in all their adm subfolders and map the GUID of that GPO with its friendly name ... so I don't have an idea how to find out which adm template is used by what gpo ...
Does anyone out there have an idea or even better a script which manages that challenge?
thx in advance & cu (from germany, rainer)
