Default GPP on a User Group

Hi all, I tried to search for something similar but didn't find much on my question.

I have setup a GPP to map a drive. I tested it by applying it to my test OU with my test user in that OU and it it applies just fine. In my setup we have several users from different OU groups that need to have this applied. My thought was to setup a User Group and make them all members of the group. Then put that user group object in an OU just to apply that GPP to it. This doesn't work. It doesn't even show up in the gpresult as running or being filtered out. It seems that if I don't have the actual users in the OU the GPP is applied to rather than the user group, then the GPP doesn't apply at all.

Hopefully my explaination is clear, if not I'll re-explain. So is what I want to do possible? If so, what am I missing in my puzzle?

    Thanks!

GPO's have to be applied to User or Computer objects. You can't apply them directly to a Group.

Your best best is to go into the GPO and edit the preference to target the Group. Look at the Common tab under Targeting. Then, apply the GPO to each OU that has users that need the drive mapped.
