Question Windows Vista Only Settings Applied to Windows 7

    Hi GPO Guys,

Currently planning for migration to windows 7 from windows vista and a GPO related scenarios keep on popping up. Tried searching microsoft but didn't manage to find any valuable information. Just hoping maybe somebody can enlighten me.

Scenarion 1: Windows Vista only setting gets applied to windows 7
Findings: Policy is applied, Registry Key is created.

Scenarion 2: Windows 7 only settings gets applied to windows vista
Findings: Policy is applied, Registry Key is created.

Scenario 3: IE 8 only settings gets applied to machine/user running IE7

Scenario 4: IE 7 only settings gets applied to machine/user running IE8

User experience wise, nothing unusual was observed. Thinking if will this affect vista/7 in anyways? Will bitlocker GPO work out okay in a mixed environment?

Thanks in advice for any response.

    Default You should be fine.

In short, Windows 7 is a "light upgrade" to Windows Vista.

Anything that's specified as "Applies to at least Windows Vista" will work for Windows 7.. so, you should just be Golden !

not entirely true... there are some settings (especially for bitlocker) which applies only to windows vista and is not applicable for windows 7 and vise versa... that's the dilemma...
