    Hello,

Perhaps someone can tell me whats wrong. I have a management station on XP SP 2 that GPMC is installed on. Now when I created a GPO for SP 2 I had used this machine, connected to a WIN 2003 server to create the GPO's. This system went belly up, and had to reinstalled from scratch, after which I reinstalled all ADMIN tools, and GPMC.

Now, when I run reports for the XP SP 2 firewall settings, I am getting the error "display names for some settings cannot be found. you might be able to solve this issue by updating the .ADM files . etc"

Well I read the book, and the patch is on the Windows 2003 server already, I checked the ADM files on the local machine, and they are correct for XP SP2, and in the Windows\inf folder.

What else can I do to fix this?
I would love to know whats wrong

    Thanks

I've seen this before when the management station doesn't have the custom ADM templates that the actual GPO has.

Can you make sure your own machine (where you're running the report from) has a full compliment of all the latest ADM templates you're using?

    Jeremy,

Thank you for your reply. I have read your books, they are great.

Ok, I have the latest XP SP 2 adm files in the windows\inf folder of the admin system.

What other adm files should I add? Thats what I do not understand. Why is this occuring if I do have the files. Also, if I use GPMedit on the Windows 2003 server, I get the same error? Why would that be? although I can understand it if it didn't have the XP SP2 adm files, but I added them.

I do not have any custom templates, just modification of the default domain policy. That is where I made the XP SP 2 changes. Perhaps that is the problem, I shouldn't have modified it.

Nah.. Modifying that doesn't sound like the culprit.

Take a look at the bottom of page 227 and Figure 5.9.

Is this the issue you're seeing? Let me know...

    It's definately an ADM problem.

Again.. really make sure your file sizes and file dates on your management station are the latest.

Other than that.. try another machine and see what happens.

    Good luck!
