Default IE8 - IE maintenance in 2000/2003 domain

We seem to be having strange IE maintenance behaviour trying to configure IE maintenance extensions for IE8 in a Windows 2000 domain.

We're trying to deploy proxy settings through user config -> Windows settings -> IE maintenace

The same policy is fine with IE6

The policy is set for policy mode (right click IE maintenance -preference mode not checked)

However, we're seeing the policy settings tattoo - more like the 2008 preference mode and the settings themselves when applying to a XP/IE8 machine take at least a second logon or a background (or forced) refresh for them to apply.

Wait for network at startup is enabled and irrespective of that setting we see this occur the first time a user logs onto a machine too (at which point the computer should apply all policies)

    Thanks for any input.

    Smile IE Maintenance Issue

    Hi Mike,

There is documented issue with windows xp clients not applying IE maintenance settings from 2003 policy when folder re-direction is enabled. There is a hotfix which resolves the problem as highlighted in the following document.

After you enable the Folder Redirection policy in Windows XP Service Pack 2, the Internet Explorer Maintenance policy may not apply

Is this the problem with you are experiencing?

    Stuart
