    Default Copying GPO's between domains

Hi There, is it possible to copy a GPO residing within one AD2K3 forest within a test environment to another AD2K3 forest (production) using the copy WSF script from the GPMC repository without any trust relationship between the two environments?

Plan on testing this, but for the sake of time looking to see if anyone has done this before.

    Thx

    Mark

    Default

Create a new GPO in the target domain
This will create the GUID for the new domain
Identify the GUID of the target policy (properties of the Policy)

Identify the GUID of the source policy (properties of the Policy)
Then copy the Group policy object in your source domain \\Domaincontroller\sysvol\domain\policies\GUID

Copy all folders and files under this GUID to the target domain by locating the target on the destination domain controller
    \\targetdomaincontroller\sysvol\domain\policies\GU ID

    Default Actually.. Check out Backup/Import

The solution you presented is great if you have EXACTLY the same domain name in test and production. But what if you don't?

Then, you're doing a raw copy across with lots of potential issues.

Instead, check out the GPMC BACKUP / IMPORT feature which allows you backup from the SOURCE DOMAIN and then IMPORT into the target domain. Along the way, you can change the domain name.

The only caveat is... GPPrefs are not supported here.. those items are copied straight thru as-is.
