I have a question regarding the backing up and importing of GPO's on 2003 server

I have several gpos created using a windows 7 client as i wish to set some windows 7 policies. My question is that if these GPOS were backed up using the 2003 server GPMC console and then had to be Imported onto another server would the Windows 7 Specific settings get backed up and imported or must the GPOS be backed up and imported using a windows 7 client ?.
