Ok so here is what is going on. I have laptops that travel home that are on our domain and do not have local accounts. Once they get home they connect back into our domain with Cisco VPN. You can ping the domain so that works. If they try and access any resources that require the domain I get this error.

"The user name you tryped is the same as the user name you logged in with. That user name has already been tried. A domain controller cannot be found to verify that user name."

Any ideas???...Please help we are going nuts.

When they get their VPN connection up, do an ipconfig and make sure they are being given correct DNS servers, it sounds like they don't get them and therefore can't find a DC.
Either fix DHCP or configure clients with DNS servers locally.

They should not be prompted for creds for resources they already have access to normally.

Ok, thanks for the direction. DNS and DHCP are handled by Linux servers here and we do regularly have issue with dns, so that is probably the direction I will head.

    Thanks man

Ok so that didn't work. The work around we found so far, which is not what we want to do, is map a drive to the server and say use different username and password but use the same one, then it works....???...weird.

Any more ideas from you guys to try??
