Angry Group policy evetn id 1058

Enviornment: windows 2008 I have 2 DC. on the client machine aslo (windows 2008) I am getting event id 1508, everytime I run gpupdate. also it is followed by even 1501 within 2sec- 2 minutes range. this is brand new domain just configured it. here are the detials of the event ids

EVENT: 1058 The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\mydomain.net\sysvol\mydomain.net\Policies\{31B2F 340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following: a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller. b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.

Details: ErrorCode 5 ErrorDescription Access is denied. DCName \\black2.mydomain.net GPOCNName CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=mydomain,DC =net FilePath \\mydomain.net\sysvol\mydomain.net\Policies\{31B2F 340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini

Event: 1501 The Group Policy settings for the user were processed successfully. There were no changes detected since the last successful processing of Group Policy.

I have researched all over and there is no solution to this issue. thanks for all the input and help. thanks M

I've had this issue before... Usually a ipconfig /flushdns and a ipconfig /registerdns on the client cleared things up.

MS has a Knowledge Base article on the issue here: Userenv errors occur and events are logged after you apply Group Policy to computers that are running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000
