Default Internet Explorer Version as WMI Filter

I need to be able to filter a new GPO based on what version of Internet Explorer you are using. I've searched and searched for a way to do this but I'm coming up with nothing. I know very little about the WMI filtering system but I've learned enough to know that this used to be simple but if you, like me, are using a Windows 2008 domain and a Windows 7 management station, that this is no longer the case.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can do this now? I'll be happy to provide additional information if required.

    Thank you,

couldn't you use item level targetting and check file version of iexplore.exe? I'm sure there are other ways but this comes to mind.
