Have this issue where the little ones take the whole class time trying to logon with password complexity enabled and 7 charachter minimum requirement.

Solution: To lower the shields temporarily and create few accounts that does not reqire the password restrictions and put the shields back up.

In lab. this has worked successfully. We have over 60,000 accounts in production. Just want to be carefull these don't get affected in any way.

Any chance I could run in to any kind of problems with the existing account? Has anyone tried something similar?

    Thanks.

password complexity kicks in at the point of changing it, not once it is already in there, so the method you describe should work.

have you considered removing complexity requirement and increasing the length (7 is not ideal in any case if you allow LM to be used, 8 forces the second half to be created, 15 means no LM hashes can be stored as that has a 14 char max). Maybe kids can type a short phrase easier than all the complex stuff?

    "my dog is called Max"
    "I like peanut butter"
"Michaelangelo is the best ninja turtle" (OK maybe not that one!)

    Thanks for the clarification.

The teachers have tried passphrases. It's the typing skills of the little ones that gets them.
For now we have to stick to the 7 charaters to accommodate the older MACs we have.

We are struggling with at our school also. I am considering using their firstname as their username and then initials for the password. We are a small school with only 82 in our K-5 school. So we can probably be a little more lenient in what we do
