WSUS Computer Group Deployment

I have implemented a WSUS Server and used Group Policy to update machines however only some machines are listed in the WSUS Group.... In AD i have created a Distributed group with all the machines in it that I want WSUS to update however it does not seem do be working.... what am I doing wrong????

Also when implementing the WSUS Template in the GP do I update the Template only on the WSUS Server GP or on the Domain Controller GP?

...are not NT-style groups.
