can't help on the first part, but for the second part what you need to use I think is GPResult.exe from MS to give you the resultant policy settings.
We have a mixed envirnment, (Microsoft, Novell and Linux), our desktops login using the NetWare client to both NDS and AD. We recently implemented security settings to blank out the username, the security setting works for the login (all machines have a blank username), but we have mixed results on the unlocking screen login. We have not found a ryhme nor reason why some of the XP and some of the 2K PCs blank out the username when a workstation is being unlocked and some don't blank out the username. We have compared registry settings and client settings on both types of PCS and cannot find the difference(s) that may be causing this.
Also, is there a similar tool to GPManagement in XP for 2k PCs? Someway to tell what the winning GPO is for a particular setting.
Thanks for any assistance,
