We are a W2K/XP client with W2K server environment. I am working to create a GPO that enforces basic desktop control (screensaver with password after 10 minutes, standard desktop wallpaper, etc.)

The screen saver seems to be working as planned. My problem is the standard wallpaper. I created a batch file in the login script that copies a solid color JPG file to the root of C:. It is then being pushed through GP to tile as the standard background. The issue is that intermittantly (not software or hardware specific) the background has "black bars through it". A simple log off and log on fixes it but it ANNOYING.

    I have verified the following:

~ Not HW specific (happens to different video cards
    ~ Not screen resolution specific
~ Happens whether image is centered, stretched, or tiled
~ Verified that it isn't a timing issue by waiting to load explorer.exe until batch is complete

I haven't tried a BMP file instead of JPG. Should I? Will it work on both W2K and XP? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated... I'm losing hair by the login!

Problem solved! I found a corrupt user profile on the machine due to roaming profiles not configued correctly on the user. Problem was user specific.
