    Default Loopback Processing Performance

A few questions regarding enabling the setting for Group Policy Loopback Processing.

We have many GPOs all linked to OUs where the computer objects reside however the User objects are located in another OU. WIthin those GPOs we have User COnfiguration settings configured.

1). Does only one GPO need to have Loopback enabled or does each GPO require this?
2). Is there a performance degredation in client side Group Policy processing if Loopback is enabled on multiple GPOs?

    thanks

1.) You just need one GPO to have the Loopback setting that is linked to the OU where the computers reside. Personally, I like to have a single standalone GPO that is named something like "Loopback - Replace Mode" or "Loopback - Merge Mode" so that what I'm doing is very obvious.

2.) I can't say that I've ever seen a performance hit and I use Loopback Replace pretty extensively.

Well, technically there IS a performance degredation. That's because when GP applies first.. it applies as YOU, the user. THen it applies AGAIN as the "Computer User", thus effectively doubling your GP processing time. Now, GP processing could be quick, but it's still going to be 2x Quick. :-)
