Default Pinned start menu items for all users

I work for the National Health Service in England and am really struggling to get one thing (which I think should be so simple) to work.

We have updated our active directory to 2008R2. And have completed a new set of group policies using all the guidance we could find from your site and books. However, we are really struggling with getting a standardised desktop look and feel with pinning start menu and task bar items.

We understand the pinned items reside in two places – in the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Intern et Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned and in the registry key computer\hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\wind ows\currentversion\explorer\startpage2

So we created the pinned items we wanted, then copied the folder to the default profile folder in the same location, and imported the regkey into the .default location profile. We log on with a another user, the reg key gets put into the registry hive, their profile has got the shortcuts, but the start menu – absolutely nothing. We can’t seem to find another way of doing this – but are open to suggestions.

We just can’t seem to get this to work no matter what we do. And would really love your help if you could spare a few minutes of your time.

    Thanks in anticipation.
