I've tried to set NTFS permissions for to prevent access but when I deny list folder / read data my mandatory profile redirection fails.
Hi, I've been looking for a solution to this for a while now, which is :- on a workstation when a user opens an application such as notepad, they can type the path to a network share for instance: \\Server\SysVol. They can then view the various folders and files stored on the server. Can this be disabled?

So, that's precisely what hidden shares are meant for.
Just stick a $ at the end of the share name .. and poof. Hidden.
