    Default Mute Sound

Looking for a way with group policy (regular or client side extensions) to mute the audio at the computer level... We are looking to implement this for our PCs that reside in patient rooms...

Any easy ways to do this?

I was thinking I could disable the windows audio service, but was hoping to just actually mute the sound if possible... In case it needed to be unmuted on the fly...

    Thanks!

Not realy a GPO solution, but you could do the following:

    1. Get NirCmd http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html
    2. Run NirCmd mutesysvolume 1

To enable simply run NirCmd mutesysvolume 0

If this works on your clients, you could of course integrate this into a GP based logon script.
