What happens if you create the users My Docs folder in the appropriate network location prior to thier initial log on? Does the redirection work correctly?
Hi, I created a gpo that redirects all of my users My Documents folder to the network. It worked fine for all of the existing users at the time of the gpo creation. However, folders are not being created on the network for any new users that have been added to AD since then. New users My Documents folders are still on the local C: drive. When I created the gpo I changed some of the permissions so Only Administrator and the user can access thier folder. Would this have any implications? Authenticated Users have read, write access to the root directory.
Thanks for any help!!!!

where's the policy linked? domain? OU?
I have the same thing happening. In fact, new users were getting folder redirection up until a couple of weeks ago.
A new folder gets created on the server, but My Docs doesn't get redirected there.
Any ideas why this would stop functioning?
Any one have an answer to this? I am experiencing the same issue. I added the user as the owner of the home drive folder to see if it makes a difference and my redirection still doesn't work. The GPO is a domain level GPO.
Thanks

I did recently come across a KB article on Microsoft's site stating that the user whose folder you are trying to redirect HAS TO HAVE ownership over the folder being redirected to.
So, if you are trying to redirect the local my docs folder to the network, that user needs to have the ability to be the owner of the 'my docs' folder in their network location. Does your user have this ability?
Also, if you manually create this folder for the user and have them take ownership of it, does the redirection work after a few reboots?
Also, in your event logs, what are the specific event IDs you are seeing when folder redirection is failing?
Here's a KB article that talks about permissions and ownership for folder redirection purposes:
