    Hi,

Created a test GPO to perform folder redirection for "my documents" and attached it to a test OU for folder redirection - the folder redirection worked successfully for the one user in that OU. Once I knew the test GPO was enforced, I unlinked/deleted this GPO. I then had the folder redirection activated in another GPO which was attached to another OU with three users (original test user plus two new ones). All of the users in this other OU are getting their folders redirected but the "original" test user gets the following error in his event log:

Aborting redirection of folder My Documents. The new folder path cannot be a subdirectory of the current path. The folder is configured to be redirected to <\\server\userdata\%USERNAME%\My Documents>. Files were to be moved from <\\server\userdata\user> to <\\server\userdata\user\My Documents>

It appears to be trying to redirect the path that is "already" being redirected for this one user. I searched all the forums here and in various other places but can't find a resolution.

Does anyone have any input? Is more info required?

    Thanks,
    Chris

when you redirected it the first time, did it put the files in a subfolder according to username, or did it dumpt them in the root of the share?

In your policy, are you defining all that %username%\my docs stuff? you should be able to define just the root (ie userdata in your case) and it should assume the rest.

It placed all the files in the subfolder according to username.

No - I am not defining all that %username%\my docs stuff...

The GPMC did not require the use of %username% - it defaulted to this setting without showing that parameter.

Let me shed some further light...

I went to the server to investigate the folder structure of the two users that are working and the one user that is getting the event log entry.

The two that are working have a "my documents" folder (with subfolders) and the one that is giving the event log error does "not" have a "my documents" folder but "does" have all the subfolders.

    Does this help?
