IE7 GPO when upgrading to IE8

There is a portion of our origination that currently has IE7 installed and has a GPO in place to manage it. We are in the process of deploying IE8 and the comment was made that IE8 will not work with the IE7 GPO. I was under the impression that the GPO for IE8 was a superset of the IE7 GPO and that anything set for IE7 would roll forward to IE8. The lack of the specific GPO for IE8 would simply mean there were IE8 options we could not manage. Can anyone clarify this for me?

It depends on the settings. Some will work but others won't, mostly if the feature you are managing has changed. All you can do is test.
