    Hi

I need to put a a scheduled task on everyones pc in my company, i only know the basic's with GP so ive had to google this and most people say i should use a script to do this (which im not sure about) or a few things mentioned it should be available in a update of group policy... either way im stuck.

Would someone be able to let me know if i can set a scheduled task via group policy, and if so with out the use of using scripts?

    Thanks in advance

If you have deployed the Microsoft GPPE (Group Policy Preference Extension) technology to your devices-see KB943729, then using a Vista or W2KOcho device, you have a GUI interface using GPOs to set up and target Scheduled Tasks to your devices. If not, then you'll have to run a Computer Startup script (they run under System authority, whereas Usr Logon scripts do not) to set up the Scheduled Task. Obviously there are other technologies to deliver that kind of thing (SMS/SCCM, etc.).

Note: You do NOT need a W2KOcho DC environment to host... Windows Server 2003 Active Directory is fine... you just need a Vista or W2KOcho device to "edit the GPOs" targeted to your devices. Targeted devices (with KB943729) can be Windows XP and higher).
