Last year we configured My Document redirection on our 2003 domain. The GPO was set to Basic and "Redirect to the user's home folder". Each user's profile is set to map drive P to \\servername\staff\%username% . This has worked great for the last year.

About 1 month ago we upgraded the servers to 2003-R2 to take advantage of the advanced quota management and file type filtering. Now there are problems with the security of the redirected folders.

If a user opens a file in P:\ they cannot save it to My Documents which is the default location on almost all desktop apps. The problem aslo seems to work the other way with files opened in My Docs if they try to save to P:\.

Bottomline, I'm getting hammered with complaints and I cannot see what the problem is. When I test this the user has full rights to both the My Documents folder and the P:\ drive. It seems to be a problem injected by R2 but what and where?

I have tried changing settings to advanced and using \\servername\staff where "staff" is a share on the server. No joy.

Any ideas?
