Okay, okay, so I figured if I named the post strangely it would attract more viewers. I guess it worked because you are reading this...

    My question:
I would like to disallow certain file types from being allowed onto certain drives. For instance, users are placing old PST files in their home directory and I would like them to stop. Besides telling them to knock it off, I would like to know if there is a policy that I can set to disallow PST files from being placed on this drive, or even on the server. I have seen it done, but do not know if this was done by a GPO or script.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

If using Win 2003 R2 or Win 2008, you can use the built-in File Screening to achieve this. It can be managed through the File Server Resource Manager.

Thanks for the reply. I have Windows Server 2003, but not R2. Is there a way to supplement my pre-existing version with features that come with R2?
