Let me preface this error by aying that this user turned her computer off several times while the policy was trying to copy the files. I ended up having to move her to a different OU to have the policy removed (Constant gpupdate /force did not do the trick of determining that the policy should not be applied anymore. In any event, after a bunch of computer account moving from one OU to another, I was able to finally get her desktop and my docs moved to the server. On the first attempt, only her desktop moved over(but very squirrely how it was acting)

Now when I removed the policy to try and get everything back on her comptuer locally. The My Documents folder seemed to return just fine, but when it tried to return the desktop, I got the following error

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Folder Redirection
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 101
    Date: 10/25/2006
    Time: 9:25:13 PM
    User: MGT\ds9
    Computer: MGT-SHARIFD-D1
    Description:
Failed to perform redirection of folder Desktop. The new directories for the redirected folder could not be created. The folder is configured to be redirected to <%USERPROFILE%\Desktop>, the final expanded path was <C:\Documents and Settings\dsharif\Desktop>. The following error occurred:
This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Also, on this person's PC, a lot of strange security things are occurring. When I try to do a Group Policy Model to get the results, i get a permission denied (As a domain admin)

    Any ideas

Looking at the event log, it appears that you are trying to redirect the desktop folder to a local profile, but the user account who is logged in, MGT\ds9, doesn't have the necessary rights to do this in the dsharif profile. If the dsharif user logs in, do you get the same message in the event log?

With 'alot of strange things occuring' on a PC, at what point do you deploy a new workstation? We only spend about 15 minutes troubleshooting because it only takes me 15 minutes to provision a PC, including applications, printers, etc.

    Hope that helps

Yes, for some strange reason her user account was not the owner of her desktop folder. I went in and gave her user account ownership rights over the folder, logged off and back on and the desktop redirection went offwithout a hitch. Unfortunately, since we are just starting the redirection policy, my users are not in a position to get a new system up and running in 15 minutes. We still have to backup data and restore.
