    Sorry about this long post.

I am building a new Win2k3 AD network for about 300 computers.
I plan to roll out 250 new XP computers (6 different hardware models). The other 50 computers already have XP on them and will need Office 2000 installed and other 3rd party software installed via Software Deployment.
I don't have an unlimited budget, but I would like to do things right.

What would be the ideal server(s) hardware configuration for RIS, SMS (or WUS/SUS), Software Deployment.

    My thinking is:

    - dedicated win2k3 std RIS server w/4gb ram and 150 gb hd NTFS partition for images

    - a win2k3 std SMS (or WUS/SUS) with Software Deployment on the same server w/4gb ram and 150 gb hd (Not sure if I need a 2nd partition here)

    - Should I separate the SMS from the Software Deployment into 2 separate servers ?

    - Also does > 4gb ram help ? - which means that I would need win2k3 enterprise.

    Thanks

two partitions are necessary. will you be trying to deploy each and every one at the same time or so many per day? will they be located at the location they will be used or doing this in a lab setting?
wds works well when setup correctly!
you can get away with 2gb ram, 4 is nice.
