    Hey Guys and Galls

    (Running Server2K3 & WinXP)

Im somewhat stuck. We are currently in the middle of an AD Domain migration. So i am using the AD migration tool to migrate user accounts from one domain to the other. I select the option to translate roaming profiles (i have tried not selecting this) and do not get any errors when migrating.

In GP we have 2 folder redirections taking place, one is for thier start menu and the other is for thier My Documents.

However when the users login, thier profiles are accessible, they get thier desktop icons and everything, however thier start Menu and My Documents folders are not redirecting. Thier going to the roaming profile folders instead.

The only fix i seem to have so far is if i delete thier local profile. Go to the share and create a new folder for their profile. And when they create a whole new profile, the folder redirection works..... until they logoff, then it goes back to the same thing.

the GPO setting for My Documents is:
Basic (redirect everyone's folder to the same location)
    Path:\\Server_IP\Share\Share\%Username%

The GPO setting for the startmenu is:
Basic (redirect everyone's folder to the same location)
    Path:\\Server_IP\Share\Startmenu

It is not a permission issue because when their redirection is not working, the user can browse the network share to thier My Documents and Start Menu and see all thier data and Icons.

if any more information is needed please just let me know, but has anyone encountered this before or have any suggestions?

    Thanks and Regards.

Are all the servers 2003 or are some 2k ?
Are the roaming profiles on the same server as the redirected folders - I once read about problems if this was the case, but I think it was only if the fileserver was 2000 (hence the question above), but I could be mistaken. I seem to recall there was a fix for it, so there may be hope. I'll see if I can dig it up.

    Thanks for the Replay AdamV
We are 100% server 2003 and WinXP sp1

the redirected folders and and the profiles are both on the same server.

However if you have a link to the issue i'd like to read up on it.

I did do another test of just creating an account from scratch (well sorta i use a script) and it seems to be getting the GPO fine.

I found a couple of articles, and the issue turned out not to be that it breaks the functionality but if for some reason the redirect share becomes unavailable, offline files function decides to make it work ofline but unfortunately gets over-zealous and does the same for all resources on the same box so they don't get their profile either (and can't update the network copy when they log off for the same reason).
So, no help I am afraid

oh well, thanks again for the effort.
And even though i said in my previous post that creating the new accounts seems to have worked. it seems like it did for only the first 2 I tried, now on the third, i get the same error.

Its taking all the settings from the profile and not getting the folder redirection.

Im hoping for some more suggestions
