Internet Maintenance settings (GPO) and roaming profiles

Hi!!!

I'm creating a network solution for a school using Windows 2003 Server and WinXp Sp2 on the clients.

I want to use both GP-based policies and roaming profiles. Have created a gpo called "students - windows propertys" and linked it to an OU container called "students" were I keep my student users.

In the GPO I have many things but the thing that is not working is configured User - Internet Explorer Maintenance - URL:s - Important URLs - Home page Urls to use a default web page for our schools homepage.

I have also configured Re-direction of My Documents and Application Data in the gpo to Basic redirection - Create a folder for each new user...with the following path \\server1\user$.

Anyway, since I also want the users settings and Favourites to follow them to difffrent computers, I have also configured roaming profiles for the user, \\server1\user$\%username%.

The trouble is that my configuration of the default homepage is not working - I get the following error message in the Policy Event log -

"Userenv 1091 -
The Group Policy client-side extension Anpassning av Internet Explorer failed to log RSOP (Resultant Set of Policy) data. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension."

And the Component Status reports the following

"The Group Policy client-side extension Anpassning av Internet Explorer failed to log RSOP (Resultant Set of Policy) data. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension."

for the configured user and computer.

The "Anpassning av Internet Explorer" is swedish for something like "Adjustment for Internet Explorer" in english.

It works if I just use either profiles redirection or folder direction.

I'm grateful for any thoughts and ideas...

If you use folder redirection and Internet explorer maintenance settings you may get problems. There is a hotfix for this specific issue,

Setting roaming profiles as an AD property is fine - roaming profiles and redirected profiles differ in that roaming ones are copied to the workstation temporarily and redirected ones are not. Redirected is being more common, roaming is still ideal for users who also work ofline such as notebook users

Basically I would have been happy, only using "GPO" Redirection folder, if I could get Favourites to be saved on the server also...

That is mainly the reason for my use of roaming profiles...
