    Hi.

I apologise if this has been covered before- I'm new here and relatively new to configuring policies. Here's a brief analysis of my situation:

I run a network that has OUs setup by year group (we are a school) and need a very good set of Group Policies in order to lock down the desktop. I looked at mandatory, but these don't appear to be what I need. In any case, I have the dekstop etc locked down very well, but of course can't right click on My Computer and get the shadow copy context menu! I disabled this in the GPMC for the Student's OU and can't find where to take it off! lol!

I am redirecting the "My Docs" folder to a separate volume on a member server for ease of backup etc., so would like to give the students the opportunity of recovering deleted/lost files.

Anyone got any ideas? Basically I need to maintain the ban on right clicking on everything but My Docs (or the files inside it) so that we can use Volume Shadow Copy.

All help and advice greatly appreciated.

Here is the 30 second deal about shadow copies...

    1) You enable in ON a WS03 server
    2) Specifically, on a DRIVE LETTER
    3) Once you enable shadow copies, users then can restore their own files

The client is built in to XP/SP2... but needs to be deployed to XP/SP1, SP/SP0 or W2k.

A full working example of Shadow Copies is in the book...

    Hope that helps.
