Please write the exact policy path, eg. User Configuration > Windows Settings etc.
Searched the Forum and didn't find a solution.
Although I have enabled Folder Redirection -- the folder that should contain the Username\My Documents, Desktop etc. is EMPTY.
Here's the situation....
In a separate OU, I have 1 GPO which enables Folder Redirection to a test folder \\server\folderredirection
Set the GPO to basic and to create the folder automatically.
Everyone has FULL Control to the SHARE level
Permission on folder itself are: Users have Modify rights
I have performed a gpupdate /force and rebooted the workstation.
No errors in Application Event log
I have 2 Test workstations in the OU.
What am I missing? How can I troubleshoot this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please write the exact policy path, eg. User Configuration > Windows Settings etc.
Sorry, I was researching this from home.. so I didn't have access to the GP console to begin with.
Here are the details.
User Configuration | Windows Settings | Folder Redirection | Application Data |
Policy is as follows:
Basic - redirect everyone's folder to the same location
Create a folder for each user under the root path
Root_Path: \\server\folderredirection\
Same settings repeated for Desktop and My Documents
The Test Computers are in a Sub OU below the rest of the computer objects.
I read on another post that if you delete the GPO without first setting it to "Not configured" then you can screw up the Policies... and I fear that's what I did once while "testing" I deleted the Folder Redirection GPO without first setting it to "not configured"
I have SINCE re-created the GPO but the folder path has now changed.
I hope I haven't messed things permanently.
OK, after setting the GPO to "Not Configured" over night AND re-enabling it this morning... now it looks like Windows is getting the Policy.. BUT...
I'm now getting an error that the folder can't be found.
See ERROR below:
[code:1]Failed to perform redirection of folder Application Data. The new directories for the redirected folder could not be created. The folder is configured to be redirected to <\\server\folderredirection\%USERNAME%\Applicat ion Data>, the final expanded path was <\\server\folderredirection\roaming\Applicat ion Data>. The following error occurred:
The network path was not found.[/code]
Aren't the folders suppose to be created automatically????
I read on another forum that manually creating the user folder messes things up.
I've double checked the permissions on botht he Share level and the Folder level. Share = EVERYONE with full control
I've even relaxed permissions slightly by granting.... \server\Users and OU\Domain Users Modify rights on the folder level. -- which from what I've ready is not necessary since Windows is suppose to give each user access to only their own folder.
-- so basically ANYONE should be able to create folders, yet Windows says it can't find the folder.
