    Question Updating IE Favorites

    Hi Guys,

We have a company website which web address has been updated to a secure site (HTTPS). Our current GPO for the IE favorites has the address as HTTP. I need to update this but if I simply update the GPO with the new address, this won't update the workstations IE favorite, only update new workstations after the GPO change was made. I can't select the option to remove other favorites as each user needs some of their custom favorites.

If I remove the current favorite and add a new one with the correct address, we will have duplicate favorites on each workstation.

Is there anyway around this? This is affecting us globally (across 7 child domains)

Please let me know if you require any further information.

    Regards,
    Ben

    Hi Ben:

You should be able to accomplish the task you describe by going to User Config - Windows Settings - Internet Explorer Maintenance - URLS - Favorites

The favorites component within this setting allots for the distinction between http and https and you can change an http site to an https site without any duplication. Just to confirm this, I created a favorite for http:YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.. I ran gpupdate on my desktop and confirmed that there was a listing called youtube in my favorites. I then edited the GPO and changed the listing to https://www.youtube.com. I went to my desktop once again, ran gpupdate and opened up my favorites. Although the same listing called youtube appeared, it pulled up https://www.youtube.com as it should have.
