Default Safe to create policydefinition folder?

    GPAnswers,

    First post and thanks

We have two 2008 DCs in our network but all clients are XP/2003 for now.

We have custom ADM templates and administrative template policy settings

I noticed right after copying the local DCs policydefinition folder C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions to the Sysvol, that the GPO states that the settings are now pulling from the Central store.

It occurred to me that this may cause issues if an XP/2003 machines are trying to find ADM Templates from the central store but doesn't because it now only contains ADMX files.

I can't find articles saying this is an issue or not.

Can someone confirm? I guess I'll know soon enough how much damage I caused.

    Thanks in advance.

You're probably already figured out your answer by now, but if not, here's my best understanding. I believe the Central Store being created is going to be ignored by your clients. Clients don't actually use the ADM or ADMX files at any time to process a policy. Your management machines should however be using the Central Store in order to gain the advantages of the Central Store.
Another way to say this is that I would not expect this to be a problem.
