Default ODBC (Data Sources) Preference Not Working

I was wondering if the ODBC (Data Sources) Preference is working or if it generally just broken. If I create a Data Source Preference for a SQL Server connection, I get the following error in my Application Event Log:

The computer <name of connection> preference item in the <name and quid of GPO> Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070057 The parameter is incorrect.' This error was suppressed.

I've seen old reports that this preference is somehow broken, but hoped that is not the case. That's why I'm posting here. Hopefully someone can share some advice that might help.

Lightbulb Same Issue, Has anyone had any luck deploying ODBC connections with Server 2008

We are also haveing the same issue and getting the same error message...

We are using Server 2008 with XP workstations. I have been trying to deploy a SQL ODBC connection to 200 xp machines. All of the XP machines have the Group Policy Preference Client Side Extensions for Windows XP (KB943729) installed.

    See attached for my policy.

Has anyone been able to get this to work?

There's a known bug with GPP and ODBC. Here's a blog post that explains it along with a fix: Florian’s Blog Group Policy Preferences and ODBC configuration .
