Default GPMC - Migrating mgmt station from XP to Windows 7

    Hello,

We are in the process of building a new management console PC for our department. Our current GPMC resides on a Windows XP-SP3 PC. We are moving to Windows 7 32bit and want to know of any issues regarding moving ADM files to the new station---can we just install all of the ADM & ADMx files OR do we have to move them from the older PC. I can't seem to find a good answer for this one here OR in the book?

    Please advise.

ADMX files are already included with Windows 7 and 2008 in the C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions. You can also download them from Download details: Administrative Templates (ADMX) for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7.

You will need to copy those to the Central Store. How to create a Central Store for Group Policy Administrative Templates in Window Vista

Also, make sure you install RSAT on your new Windows 7 Mgmt console and you're good to go.

    Hope this helps.
