Default GP results from child domain computer

We have a parent child domain structure at our company. My PC as an administrator resides in the parent domain. I'm trying to get group policy results in the GPMC to retrieve information from a child domain PC. I get "Access is denied." every time I try. My user is an enterprise admin as well as a domain admin of the parent domain. I tried to add my user to the child domain "Domain Admins" group, but that is a global group and I'm not allowed to add any user/group from the parent domain into the child domain group. The parent and child domain PCs have similar setup and configuration. GP results works fine on my PC to any other PC in the parent domain. It also works from a admin PC in the child domain to any other PC in the child domain. What permissions can I set to make this work? Do I need to change "Domain Admins" to a universal group? If I do that will it cause trouble with something else?
