Hi, I've been messing around with the new search/filtering features in GPMC 2.0 but it doesn't seem to work. Whatever search options I configure it doesn't display any results.

I'm doing the testing on a Vista workstation (Vista SP1 + RSAT) in a Windows Server 2003 test environment.

Any ideas why this feature isn't working?

Once you have specified the criteria, are you hitting the "Add" button and 'then' searching?

Jerry... Not seeing any 'Add' button on the filtering interface :?

I've narrowed the problem down to the 'enable requirements filters' option.

Keyword filter searches are working fine... as long as I don't use the 'enable requirements filters' option!

To give you an example... say I want to view all settings within the GPO that apply to IE7... so I configure the following filtering options:

Type of policy settings to display: Managed: Any; Configured: Any; Commented: Any

Enable keyword filters: Disabled (option unticked)

Enable Requirements Filters: Internet Explorer 7.0 ticked ['Include settings that match any of the selected platforms' options selected]

Once I click OK with these options it just comes back with no results. Tried selecting 'Re-apply filter' but no joy. Ooh-er mrs!
    Any ideas?

Oh, I assumed you were having issues using the GPMC's "Search" feature. I believe that you are instead using the Group Policy Management Editor's , Admin Templates', Filter Options interface.

My test results are very inconsistent. Apparently, it has something to do with the templates themselves and the words used in the filter. For example, when filtering for 'Microsoft Windows 2000 family | Microsoft Windows 2000' I get it to display policies whose 'requirements' read 'Microsoft Windows 2000 only', but not those that read 'At least Microsoft Windows 2000'. I'll dig around a bit and see if I can find something describing this behavior because I would expect to see 'both' sets displayed.

Hi Jerry. Yeah sorry, I should have stated that I was referring to filtering within the GP Management Editor.
Thanks for your assistance. I would be interested to hear if you find any info on this.
