    Hi Jeremy,

I am a network Manager for a school in UK. I am planning to buy the above book. Do you cover the way to control MS Office through Group Policies ? for example can we disable a group of Kids using VB and Macros and let another group have the facility within Excel / Word etc.

how granular can this be ? thanks for any assistnc eor pointers in this regard.

    Regards

    Hi Jeremy,

Many thanks for your response. I better tell the bookshop not to get me the current edition. I will request them to hold off until the new edition comes off the press.

When do you think it will hit the bookshelves in UK ? Could you let us know please ? This will help me a lot as we don't have the budget to buy both editions !!!!.

I am quite new to GPOs ADM templates etc. But the last year working with an AD set up gives me the impression that Microsoft has a lot of fixing to do and it's too complicated and as a result too buggy and therefore difficult to implement & run.

Is that an unfair statement ?

Have you written a book that details out how to set up a test AD environment to test stuff (policies, deployment of policies and applications, templates and control of users and workstations etc etc ) ? Do you know of any robust tools that makes it easy to do this within an AD set up ?

More strength to your elbow to write the good stuff.

    Thanks & Best Regards
    Nalin.

The book is here on Amazon.co.uk..

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Group-Policy-Management-Troubleshooting-Security/dp/0470106425/ref=sr_1_2/203-1842666-2781569?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1174477027&amp ;sr=8-2

Available for pre-order. Looks like it's coming out next week!!

As for the other stuff... the book is a real foundation for the kinds of questions you're asking. Our free Chapter, Chapter 5 is all about ADM and ADMX template files. So, you'll get a real feel for what's required to be successful with them.

    Be well !

    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks. I have informed the bookseller about the new edition.

I wil go through the book and see how much of my teeth I can get in to AD.

I look forward to the day when my bookseller says it's on the way.

after going through it i will come back with stuff that hopefully will make a future edition even more useful ( that's only IF it's needs such extra material).

    Best Regards

    Nalin.
